This company is an organic produce farming operations with locations in PA, FL and GA. They have approximately 200seasonal H2A EEs. I was initially contacted by a consulting group that specializes in agriculture that was helping this company in finding ways to reduce their healthcare coverage costs. They are in a bit of a hurry so do what you can to establish contact quickly. The contact would prefer that you initiate via email and request a time to schedule your initial phone conversation.

This RFP was originally created to address two different sister companies. However, the 2nd company, a property management firm, won't be big enough to satisfy your participation minimums, so ignore the building management employees. What is left is a nonprofit farm locate about 20 miles north of Manhattan. The contact person is in the process of buying the assets, so this will be a new entity. However, I have asked the contact if he thought it would be possible for him to obtain LRs from the prior coverage. Benefits will be required and a census will be provided.

This company actually owns 2 businesses, a tree farm and a medical practice. The registration was initiated for the tree farm, but if they do move forward, it will be through the medical practice. From what I can gather, the day to day operations of the practice is about to cease, but the Dr. will continue to work as a consultant. Their primary objective is to obtain group medical coverage without a lot of restrictions on the Dr.s they can utilize. They will start with 4 EEs but that will eventually decrease to just 2.

The company is a seasonal, diversified farm that integrates livestock, orchards and gardens. They also operate a market that sells their meats, produce and prepared foods. The operation is actually owned by a private equity group out of Denver that utilizes Professional Employer Organizations for some of their other portfolio companies and the contact on this RFP works for the private equity group. The private equity group feels they need help with all around HR, so they are looking at what options may be available. A copy of their current W/C dec is attached and they are verbally reporting zero claims but I am still working to obtain actual LRs. I have also attached a brief description of their operations that the contact sent to me.

This new company is an olive tree farm in GA. They have operated for almost 37 years but have always contracted out work or utilized 1099s. They are now about to hire 10 EEs and need payroll, W/C and HR admin services. They also suspect that they will need help with supplying benefits down the road. They have never had any W/C coverage so no LRs or dec are available. The contact is a CPA and her name is pronounced Sandreen. She told me that each EE will average about $55,000/yr.

The processing is done by air and light beams that blow the pea into the cylinder and then the beams will pull out the bad pea. The rest falls into the conveyor and then to the bagging and onto pallets to ship out. There is NO growing of crops, or agriculture exposure here. They buy everything from the area farmers. They are interested in the full suite of Professional Employer Organization services. But, since they have no current employees, they are not able to provide a census.

The contact, the HR manager, has made it clear she has little need for a Professional Employer Organization other than the health care coverage. They currently utilize a BCBS plan and also offer LTD, STD, Life, dental, vision, 401k, flex and AFLAC. They would also like pre-employment drug and background screening. The contact person is in on the 22nd, but will then be out until 1/3.

They have just recently acquired 2 large farms in AZ and they want a Professional Employer Organization to take over HR admin. All the co-employeed employees will reside in AZ. One of the main objectives is to maintain a legal workforce. They would like to hire as many of the current employees as they can, but they realize some will not pass scrutiny. On one farm (Pinal County) we'll be growing 2,000 acres of cotton and 300 acres of wheat. On the other farm (Yuma County) it will be 1700 acres of alfalfa and 200 acres of wheat

They are looking into Professional Employer Organization as a way to make sure they are completely HR compliant, relieve themselves of a lot of the administrative overhead and potentially save on W/C costs. Also be advised that in addition to the employees and payroll listed on this RFP, they also have one 8742 @ $2500/wk, and an 8810 @ $160/wk. And the W/C code used on this RFP is not the correct code. The correct code should be 0005. A loss run has been requested. Do not contact on Mondays or Thursdays.

Dental and AFLAC are made available but are EE paid. They also expect significant growth over the next year so outsourcing HR/payroll admin has become a priority as well.
