I don't yet have much detail on this new company. They indicated that they do handrail welding but that is all the detail on their opps that I have at this point. They also indicated having 1 clerical and 2 welders but the gross payroll indicated on this RFP is only a guess by me. I also don't have any detail on their current W/Comp coverage status or LRS.

This is the 2nd RFP we've run for this company. They failed to get a contract they thought they would get, so the start of production is just now ramping. This company takes used steel shipping containers and re-purposes them. You can view their web site for some conceptual views. Most of their work will be cutting and welding steel, however some finish carpentry will be required as well. They anticipate starting with 2 3066 EEs, making $17/hr and 2 making $12/hr. They also will have one 5437 at $20/hr working as needed. They do expect the company to grow, but this is what they think they will start with. I have requested the contact complete a W/C claims history affidavit.

Company does welding repair, field fabrication and miscellaneous rigging. They are primarily interested in workers comp and payroll only. Brought by a new independent rep that has an ongoing relationship with this association.

The company does provide a self insured dental plan, a 401k with profit sharing and a defined benefit plan, all that they don't want to make any changes to. The company pays 50% of the employee and his dependents on the UHC PPO Choice Direct Value - PermierSource 40/15 /70% CN-M plan and pays 45% of the employee and his dependents on the Kaiser 40/2000 plan. This company is a start steel erector. Charles Channell Jr is the owner and he has been in steel construction all of his adult life 45+ years. He has worked as superintendent in charge of 4-5 erection crews for Seminole Machine & Welding for 15years, an erection foreman for Sentury Engineering for 5years and as erection foreman for B&H Steel for 10years. The contact person listed on this RFP, Dawn, is a friend helping him obtain quotes.

The business was originally a working machine shop but due to the current economic environment they have very little work. So they have started a new non-profit business that trains returning veterans and ex-offenders in machine and welding skills. They expect to start in the next couple of weeks with just one machine shop EE. But she expects to add 4 more machine shop EEs and maybe additional clerical EEs over the next few months. And they think they can continue to take over other non-performing skill based businesses and turn them into training facilities as well.

They have hired a company to help them with a safety program, training, and employee manual. A loss affidavit has been requested, benefits are not requested.

These jobs can last 1 day to 3/4 months and can be out of state (all employees are GA residents). Looking to a Professional Employer Organization because business is continuing to slow, and they might have to downsize some more, which could impact their ability to get good health insurance. Lead brought by independent rep who's the contact on the deal...On site welding - has truck with portable welding equipment. Also does some repairs in shop. They had some issues late last year that brought the business to a halt, and Southeast dropped them. One of those issues was that owner's wife was diagnosed with cancer - NOTE that they are not looking at getting on your health plan. for particpating

Been with current Professional Employer Organization for 5 years, had some issues with dropping below 100k annual payroll (because of Professional Employer Organization mistakes) and now getting uprated. Company is a new business. They are going into boat building - aluminum, not fiberglass boats. There will be some welding involved. The partners in the deal are the 5606 and clerical - they are expecting to hire the 60 boat builders over the next year, and expect to double that number in 2-3 years. 5606 might not be the right code - he is the only partner that will be in the plant during the day - the others will be purely clerical. Very interested in risk managment - he is talking with another Professional Employer Organization - Affordastaff (?) - and was impressed with their site inspections and OSHA compliance services - if you have it, stress it! Company will be interested in some pro-forma pricing. Show him what the price will be now and what it would be with 60 employees. His partner is the financial side of the business, located in Iowa, and will be involved in the decision. They are looking at something soon, but need to have the gentleman from Iowa in town for final decision.
