We as a small company do not require a lot of services they provide, beyond payroll and UI account maintenance, but with that they have done a great job. Their benefits are fine, though they do not offer medical benefits directly. They offer no work comp services in our state, which is very unfortunate as I prefer to keep it integrated with these other services. If we have an account manager, I have never talked to them but our payroll coordinator is very friendly and helpful. Their payroll and benefits services are very cost competitive, which is the main reason we have retained their services.

One of the reasons we switched for insurance and once we switched, we suddenly didn't qualify for their health insurance at all. So a year later we still can't offer our employees the Health Insurance as an affordable benefits option. We are on our 3rd account manager since we came onboard with Frank Crum. But overall the experience has been professional.

FrankCrum staff is very friendly, accommodating, and punctual. Payroll has been accurate and they are quick to fix issues that arise. Their benefit plans are of good variety and competitiveness. The lack of integrated work comp and safety services for our company continues to be a major disadvantage over previous PEOs. I do not have an account manager outside of a dedicated payroll coordinator.

I have been very happy with our switch over to FrankCrum, Inc. All of the employees have been very easy to work with and the software is easy to use. I really like that our employees can sign on and get their check stubs and we don't have to mail them out.

we are not on their health insurance or use the HR services- and there was not an N/A to check. Frank Crum has exceeded all of our expectations- we have had no issues with them what so ever. They came thru for our payroll and workman's comp like a champ. I have told other companies about them, and assured them that they are not paying the lowest price,but the are getting the BEST service in the market.

I must say Frank Crum- has exceeded ALL of my expectations. When we call them with our payroll every other week- they are responsive, quick and a joy to work with. We have had 2 PEO's and they have been horrible. Frank Crum has been honest and upfront with any questions and concerns that we have had with our payroll and Workman's Comp. They are not the most inexpensive company- but they are worth the convenience and knowledge!!

Getting set up has been more difficult than represented and the services we are able to get are less than represented. The lack of reports and our inability to view a website to see any payroll information is not what we understood we would have. They will not produce the payroll reports we need. The time clock is not real-time and has been very difficult to set up and work with. We are disappointed that FrankCrum does not offer the level of service we were used to and expecting.

GREAT SERVICE OVERALL. STILL A BIT CONCERNED OVER THE PREMIUMS BEING BASED AS A PERCENTAGE OF PAYROLL VS. FLAT FEE. ADVANTEC IS TRYING TO GET MY BUSINESS WITH THAT FLAT FEE PER EMPLOYEE WHICH IS BETTER FOR US SINCE A MAJORITY OF MY PEOPLE WILL EARN COMMISSIONS THAT BUMP THE PAYROLL AMOUNT.

FRANK CRUM SAYS THAT THEY ARE EXPERTS FORL PAYROLL IN ALL STATES. IN OUR EXPERIENCE THEY MAKE MANY MISTAKES ESPESCIALY WHEN IT COMES TO SUTA UNEMPLOYMENT RATES. SO THEY MAKE MISTAKES AND 4 MONTHS LATER THEY SEND A BILL FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS AFTER THE FACT EXPECTING TO BE PAYED. I DONT MIND PAYING WHAT I OWE BUT I WANT TO PAY THE BILL ONCE AND FORGET ABOUT IT SO WE CAN MOVE TO OTHER PROJECTS.

Factors Affecting PEO Client Retention Rates
PEO client goes out of business

The recession of 2006 through 2012 has forced many small and medium sized companies to close their doors. These recession casualties have caused the PEO retention rates to be reduced. New start-up companies often hire a PEO since they get turn key insurance HR administrative services. In general, start up companies have a high failure rate. According to this research only 43% of businesses started in 2005 were still in existence five years later. Since new businesses often hire a PEO, it can be inferred that any PEO with a five year retention rate over 43% is adding value and expertise that helps start up companies survive and prosper. Review the BLS failure rate for business startups. Some PEOs have specialized in construction and other high risk (for workers’ compensation insurance) industries. These PEOs have seen high client attrition due to the fact that their target client market has shrunk. In addition, geography also plays a role. Most PEOs cover only limited states and some states have been affected by the recession much more than others. For example, PEOs that specialize in construction in Florida have seen a high customer loss rate during the recession.

Client drops the PEO

In some cases the PEO client may become dissatisfied with the PEO service level or to changes in the PEO benefits plans. Although rare, some PEO have moved from group health insurance plans to individually underwritten plans and this has affected the health insurance costs for the client. I those cases the client may leave the PEO to engage a different PEO or go to a standard market health insurance plan.

PEO drops the client

In other situations the PEO may drop the client if the client refuses to implement safety programs that keep work comp costs in check or fails to implement the recommended HR processes. PEOs work to keep insurance and employment risk costs in check and may terminate clients who do not assist with those objectives.
